Debra Van Tuinen creates strikingly modern artwork using a process which has endured the test of time. Working in encaustic, a technique as old as Classical Greece, Van Tuinen suspends her pigments in bees wax and damar resin. She moves beyond the ancients however, in her use of vibrant color and plowing brushwork.
